More on 5/28/08
A social worker from the hospital was just recently in the room discussing options for discharge to a rehab facility. What they’re trying to determine is if there is a facility that will be able to accommodate the rehab and permit the radiation treatments, which will have to take place off site. Hopefully that will be determined within the next day or so. So it’s possible I will be moved soon to another facility to concentrate on rehab but still get the radiation treatment that’s needed.

I have been reading your most recent blog posts. I hope that you're able to have an easier day today than yesterday. You sounded so tired on the phone last night and that's no surprise given what you had been through.
It sounds like you're getting lots of visitors and messages of support. I want you to know that many people are keeping up with your condition through the blog, too. As of now, 108 people have signed up for the email updates. Also, I did a quick check of the site statistics and people have checked the blog directly 54 times so far today.
Remember that if there anything at all that you want or need, all you have to do is mention it. Just be careful. With so many of us checking up on you, you're likely to get thousands of whatever it might be!

Hi Barry,
I just talked to Janet and she told me that there was an update. You have the right idea about not taking life for granted. Everyone needs to enjoy each day and not wait for retirement.
I know one thing that if anyone can face a problem and work it out you are the one to do so. Everyone at St Thomas is praying for you. We love you very much. We all go back to 1987.Have you read “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle?
